Ward Parties
I think I've mentioned it before but I love the fall! I am looking forward to the fun trunk or treat we will be having with our ward this week. We have been inviting all our ward members and their neighbors, and investigators, and many of the less-active members of the ward. I'm sure it will be a great turn out! (Mom, I am also looking forward to lots of pictures from our ward's trunk or treat back home! Can't wait.) :)
J is for feeling Joy and for Jeffrey! (He said it was ok to use his name):)
This week Jeffrey, who we have been teaching, came to church again. It is always a wonderful feeling seeing someone you've been teaching walking into the church building, because you know there are many others in the ward, who also have strong testimonies, and they may be the one to help that certain someone out. Knowing that church is the best place for them to be, is a great feeling. He also came last week to Sacrament meeting (and our broadcast of General Conference before that) and loved both. He said afterwards it helped him be in a good mood for the rest of the day:) This week he came early to Sacrament so he was able to meet more of our super ward members. They were all very friendly and welcoming. It was wonderful. I feel like heaven will be welcoming like that.
As the speakers were giving their talks, Jeffrey would occasionally nod and smile. It made me smile, because I always feel like I am nodding to people giving talks and testimonies! Jeffrey had to leave just after sacrament again to go to work, but he said he will really try to work things out with his boss for next week. He is really progressing and wants to make the gospel a bigger part of his life. My companions and I are so excited and feel joy for him, when he tells us things like that.
Sharing the Love with Service
We
did eight hours of service this week which felt amazing! We helped at
the food pantry, did lots of yard work with our District, (I'll add pictures) and helped a nice sister in
our ward who just had the sweetest little baby!:) I'm grateful we have so many
opportunities to serve. I might have mentioned this before, but when you get the chance to serve others, it just seems to lift your spirits. And I believe that is because your spirit inside, rejoices when we treat others like they are children of our Heavenly Father. It always reminds me of the primary song 'I Am a Child of God'. Knowing that important truth, can lift us up, if we try and remember that we are very important to God's plan.
Temple visits
I'm sorry mom it has taken me so long to answer your temple question. Yes, I am excited that I can go to the LA temple for my Birthday month! I'm very happy about that. March does seem kind of far away, but at the same time it seems like time is going by quickly. Also, if I get a companion with a Birthday in one of the months were together, I will get to go with them too:) So hopefully that will mean more visits to the temple. I love the temple.
The Light of the World
My testimony this week focuses again on my favorite scripture, well one of them at least. I add more to that list each day:) It is another one about Light and I think I may have wrote about it before.
1 Nephi 17:13 - "And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led."
I like to reread that scripture because I love the imagery of this verse. Christ is our light in the darkness
and as we follow Him we will be on the path to eternal life. He knows
the way and as we follow Him we can find lasting Happiness and Joy. We don't always have to know what is on the path, because Jesus Christ does, and He will help us with the right amount of light to find our way on our individual life paths.
Thank you for your support and love,
Love and prayers to you all,
Sister S-K
