[18] Right Place at the Right Time, Being an instrument and The Book is True:)

Good Day to all my Family and Friends!

It's been much colder this past couple of weeks up here in Pismo Beach. (Well cold to us, 72`-82`) :) But I don't mind at all, because it feels more fall-like :)  Also makes walking all over a lot more enjoyable:) My companion and the other Sisters we live with have been trying to make our apartment as festive as possible. It's so nice having similarities, like all of us enjoy the Holidays! We made decorations and have been eating as many pumpkin flavored items as we can :) Pumpkin flavored drinks are so yummy.  We are all getting excited for the fun parts of Halloween too!

Just Serve in Action

These past couple of weeks we have been having a lot of service opportunities, which is great!

One of them we feel, was quite the Service miracle. So about two weeks ago, Sister Reneer and I were walking down the street looking for people to talk to. We walked by this one house and saw a lady trying to move a bed into a truck. We went over and asked if she needed any help. Usually when we do this people say "No I'm fine", but this lady looked at us in surprise and said "Yes!" and "Could you really?"   She then invited us into her her house and she told us her story. Her name is (C) and she is only in her early forties, but sadly she has to have brain surgery very soon.  She is single and had decided to move to a smaller studio to make things easier to take care of and more affordable.   She needed to pack up everything in her house and put it in storage.  So we then made plans with her to go get our work clothes on, since we were in our missionary clothes, dresses :) and meet back at her house.

While we were driving back to our apartment we called our wonderful Ward Mission Leader, Brother Benson, and asked if he could help and he said he could!  He is such an amazing selfless person who is always willing to help others. We met him at (C)'s house and he also brought his children. We got to work right away and started to pack everything. (C) kept telling us that she was so grateful for us.  She told us that before we came she was looking into a moving company that would have charged her more than a $1,000 and with all her upcoming expenses she wasn't sure what to do. We happily told her that we always work for free:) We only want to serve and help others as Christ did.

We were so grateful that Brother Benson could come and help. I am reminded over and over why I love this church. It is so humbling to see how kind and caring people are when they think of others and serve others. It made an impression on sweet (C) too. She told us that very morning she had felt alone and overwhelmed and just prayed that if it was possible if someone would come and help her, and then there we were! It was very humbling to hear, that we could be at the right place at the right time.

I am grateful that as a missionary I can be an instrument in the Lord's hands and find those who need us:)  We may not know where they are, but the Lord does, and He will lead us to them as we listen to the Spirit.

Exchanges #2

Our area is doing so well! We did our first exchange as sisters in the Pismo Beach ward. It went terrific! I went with Sister Hiapo (who I mentioned last week is from Hawaii) :) and she really taught me a lot.  I'm blessed every day to be able to learn from all these sweet sister missionaries, that have so much to give and share.  Sister H is a great example of obedience and love. I can tell that she truly loves the people here. She has a very strong testimony and you can see it by how she talks to and treats others. We were able to do some service yard work together and to visit some less active members (who, unlike the man who wanted to call the police:) where happy to see us) which was great!

Spiritual Thought

In my studies today I finished the Book of Mormon! I love the last chapter of Moroni. I feel like he is talking to me and helping me to see how I can be better. He talks about how we need to raise Zion and strengthen it. That is what we have been focusing on as a mission.  To raise Zion.

And in verse 20 of Moroni, he writes "Wherefore, there must be Faith; and if there must be Faith there must be Hope; and if there must be Hope there must be Charity."    What is so wonderful about that is, Charity is another principle we have been focusing on as a mission! It was so exciting to read. On my mission I have really been trying to apply the scriptures to myself personally.  I can see how they can answer my questions and bring me peace both to my heart and my mind. I know it can do the same for everyone who is seeking answers and peace as well. What a blessing to have scriptures right here with us to read at any time.

I would like to share my testimony that I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon and I know it is true. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. We can gain and strengthen our testimonies as we apply Moroni's promise. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."  I truly believe this. In His name, Amen.

Keep the Faith!
Love you all!
And also as we like to say on our mission, 'The Church is True and the book is blue!' :D
